CFP: 18th SEECR at UNC

Dear colleagues,

We are pleased to announce that the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill will host the 18th annual Southeast Early China Roundtable (SEECR) from October 31 to Nov. 2, 2014.  In accordance with SEECR tradition, lodging and meals will be provided to presenters.

E. Bruce Brooks of the Warring States Project will deliver the keynote address for the conference. He is the editor of the journal Warring States Papers, and with his wife Taeko Brooks is the author of The Original Analects (1998). Another of his books, The Emergence of China, is nearing publication.

We welcome papers on pre-Song China from a variety of disciplinary  perspectives, including anthropology, archaeology, art history, history, literature,  philosophy, and religious studies. Please send abstracts of individual papers (250 words) to Uffe Bergeton (bergeton@email.unc.edu) and Eric Henry (ehenry@email.unc.edu) by August 15, 2013.  Early submissions of proposals are especially welcome.

We hope that you will be able to join us for an enjoyable weekend in Chapel Hill this fall. No one will be required to wear a Halloween costume.

Best wishes,

Uffe and Eric

Uffe Bergeton, Assistant Professor, Asian Studies Department, UNC

Eric Henry, Senior Lecturer (retired) Asian Studies Department, UNC
