Below is a Call for Papers from Southeast Early China Roundtable (SEECR):
We are pleased to announce that the Elling O. Eide Center will host the 24th annual meeting of the Southeast Early China Roundtable (SEECR) on Saturday, October 24th, 2020. Due to the COVID pandemic, the Roundtable will be held via Zoom. The meeting format will therefore be somewhat different from past years.
- We ask for all papers to be circulated in advance, so that discussants and the audience will have the opportunity to preview them. We welcome papers in a preliminary state of preparation.
- Presentations will be limited to 10 minutes. They will be grouped by twos and threes into panels, with 20-25 minutes of discussion per panel.
- We expect to have three panels in a morning session, Saturday Oct 24th 9:00am-12:00 noon Eastern, followed by lunch (catered to wherever you are!) and an afternoon session with two or three more panels.
- We will open up the sessions to a broader online audience than we usually have for an in-person conference.
We welcome proposals for presentations dealing with pre-Song China from a variety of disciplinary perspectives, including anthropology, archaeology, art history, history, literature, philosophy, and religious studies. Please send a short abstract (250 words or less) of your proposed presentation and full institutional contact information to Dr. Andrew Chittick (andrewbchittick@gmail.com) by Friday, September 25, 2020. For all abstract submissions, please mark the subject line as “SEECR Submission 2020.”
