Changes at HKU

Some dramatic changes have taken place related to Chinese philosophy broadly construed; I have updated our page on Graduate Programs in Chinese Philosophy to reflect Ci Jiwei’s retirement and the numerous new arrivals, including Justin Tiwald and Daniel Bell.

If you know of any changes at other schools on the list — or schools that should be on the list, please let me know!

  1. You might also note at HKBU the upcoming arrival of a number of new faculty in a series of changes. I arrived there last year (James Dominic Rooney, OP), working on Chinese philosophy and metaphysics. While Ellen Zhang has left for U. Macau, and we have lost Lo and Ng as well, we will be acquiring two more faculty members later this year working in Chinese philosophy.

  2. I have noticed a few points that need updating: PARK So Jeong has left NTU, Cecilia LIM has retired from NUS, and Harvey Lederman is leaving Princeton.

A further point worth exploring: I know very little about the philosophy program at East China Normal University, so I do not know if Fang Yong 方勇 has anything to do with it. He has an extremely comprehensive grasp of the history of Zhuangzi studies, so one with adequate Chinese and interest in Zhuangzi would surely want to pick his brain. Somebody with more information will have to confirm if he has any involvement with the program.
