The Department of Philosophy at San Diego State University invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor in Ethics/Applied Ethics. Candidates must have a PhD in Philosophy by start of appointment and demonstrated outstanding research potential in ethics and applied ethics, broadly construed, with the ability to collaborate across disciplines and to contribute to the curricular and scholarly development among different areas of applied ethics: specifically, environmental ethics, biomedical ethics, global ethics, and critical race, feminist, postcolonial, or queer theory. We are especially interested in candidates with an intersectional approach to philosophy who can make linkages between philosophy and other academic areas, including ecology, science and environmental philosophy, or sustainability and society. Demonstrated excellence in teaching and scholarship is required. The candidate must be committed to teaching graduate and undergraduate courses in ethics and applied ethics, and will develop complementary curricula with colleagues in the following existing programs: Environmental Science, Biology, Sustainability, or Public Health.

Anticipated start date for the position is Fall 2015.
