The Society for the Study of Early China’s 6th Annual Conference
Thursday, 22 March 2018
Washington Marriott Wardman Park Hotel, Washington, D.C.
The Society for the Study of Early China is pleased to announce its Sixth annual conference, which will take place at the Washington Marriott Wardman Park Hotel in Washington, D.C. on Thursday, 22 March 2018. Like previous meetings, this one will take place in conjunction with the Association for Asian Studies’ Annual Conference. Registration for the AAS event is not required to attend the SSEC meeting.
We invite proposals for presentations on all topics related to Early China (i.e., Han dynasty and before). Presentations will be 20 minutes in duration. Proposals are due 15 October 2017.
To submit a proposal, send in a single document:
• Your name and institutional affiliation, including formal title (e.g., “Doctoral student,” “Assistant Professor,” “Professor Emerita,” etc.).
• Your email address and institutional mailing address. (Please put these in your proposal and do not expect us to take your email address from your message.)
• A title of the proposed presentation and a short abstract of not more than 250 words. Remember that topics should be suited to presentation in 20 minutes.
Proposals should be sent in DOC format to the organizing committee at <SSECconference2018@gmail.com>. Please direct questions to the same address.
Every year the Society receives more proposals than our limited time permits us to accept. The Society’s website <earlychina.org> is undergoing an update now – the selection criteria and further information will be available there soon.
The SSEC conference is free of charge. If you are not a member of the SSEC, we urge you to join and help support the Society’s conference and other activities. To learn about the SSEC and how to become a member, visit <earlychina.org>. The 2017 issue of the Society’s journal, Early China, will soon be printed.
We look forward to seeing you in Washington, D.C.!
Sincerely,
The Organizing Committee for SSEC 2018
I am wondering whether we still have NECCT this year. I like it very much.
