2019-2020 Wesleyan University Per-Course Non-Western Philosophy Teaching Opportunities
Wesleyan University’s Philosophy Department invites applicants for two, one-course teaching opportunities. One course will be offered in the Fall 2019 semester and one in the Spring 2020 semester; which course is offered when is open to discussion. Our goal with these courses is to complement our existing course offerings in philosophy beyond the Euro-American tradition.
Ideally, at least one of these courses will focus on some area of East Asian philosophy other than classical Chinese philosophy, while the other will engage students with one or more additional non-Western traditions (that is, other than East Asian philosophy). Applicants may propose to teach either or both of the courses.
A Ph.D. in philosophy is preferred but advanced doctoral students will also be considered. Applicants should have a demonstrated commitment to and capacity for teaching college-level philosophy courses.
Please address questions to Elise Springer, Chair of the Philosophy Department, at firstname.lastname@example.org.
To apply, send a cover letter, C.V., and a teaching portfolio (which may include syllabi, teaching evaluations, and/or a statement of teaching philosophy) to Lynn Higgs, Philosophy Department Administrative Assistant, at email@example.com. Applications received by Jan 31st will receive priority, but further applications will be welcomed on a rolling basis so long as one or both slots remain open.
