CFP: Southeast Early China Roundtable

Georgia College & State University will host the 23rd annual meeting of the Southeast Early China Roundtable in the historical city of Milledgeville, Georgia, from November 1st to November 3rd. Two public/keynote lectures will be held during this year’s meeting:

Dr. Robert Neville (Boston University), “Early Confucian Sources for Contemporary Progressive Confucianism.”

Dr. Alfred Hornung (Johannes Gutenberg University/Obama Institute), “Confucius and Benjamin Franklin: Chinese ideas in the Foundation of USA.”

We welcome proposals for presentations dealing with pre-Song China from a variety of disciplinary perspectives, including anthropology, archaeology, art history, history, literature, philosophy, and religious studies. Please send a short abstract (250 words) of your proposed presentation and full institutional contact information to Dr. Huaiyu Wang (wdhyana@gmail.com) & Dr. Ashleigh Dean (ashleigh.dean@gcsu.edu) by August 15, 2019. For all abstract submissions, please mark the subject line as “SEECR Submission 2019.”

As per custom of the SEECR, the host university will cover participants’ room and board. Early submissions are welcome.
