  1. Henry was the teacher who sparked my passion for Chinese and comparative philosophy. He remained a lifelong mentor and devoted friend. Truly, Henry was like a father to me, and I will miss him dearly. Rest In Peace, sweet junzi.

  2. Henry was a philosopher who was simultaneously awe-inspiring and encouraging, as if such characteristics were naturally co-present. He was a public intellectual, and he could smell bullshit 10,000 miles away. He will live on as a model of Confucian authenticity in this off-kilter world. Rest in Peace, friend and fine gentleman. Let us remember you as we take it from here.

  3. Henry for the last 15 years was our next door neighbor and close friend. We loved our evenings sharing a glass of wine in his beautiful garden. He once cited us in a footnote in one of his books which was a great honor to us. We were lucky to have him in our lives and will greatly miss him.
