ASSISTANT PROFESSOR OF ASIAN PHILOSOPHY

The SUNY College at Oneonta invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position as an Assistant Professor in the Philosophy Department beginning Fall 2011. Initial appointment will be for two years. Expectations include teaching, research, student advisement, college service, and continuing professional development. The College at Oneonta has 5,800 students and approximately 450 faculty and offers over 60 undergraduate majors and nine graduate majors. The Philosophy Department at Oneonta has a tradition of scholarship and teaching across a wide range of philosophical traditions. We typically carry 30-40 majors and sponsor a prestigious undergraduate philosophy conference. Responsibilities: this position would be responsible for seven courses over the course of the year; advisement, Senior Thesis supervision, scholarship and service to the college are also expected. The re is the possibility of course creation and curric! ulum development.

Required Qualifications: Ph.D. or equivalent required at time of application. Area of Specialization: Asian Philosophy. Area of Competence: Philosophy of World Religions, Comparative Philosophy or Philosophy of Life and Death.

Preferred Qualifications: College level teaching experience; Candidate should be able to teach survey course in world religions; experience with diverse populations and/or inclusive pedagogies.
