Call for Proposals: 4TH CAROLINA CONFERENCE ON CHINESE THOUGHT
Friday, April 2 – Saturday, April 3, 2027, CONVERSE UNIVERSITY, Spartanburg, SC
The Carolina Conference on Chinese Thought (CCCT) is a regionally-based site for exchange and
connection among those interested in Chinese thought, broadly construed. We invite scholars and
graduate students to discuss their work on Chinese thought, drawing from any disciplinary perspective.
Presentations focusing on research, pedagogy, and other engagements with Chinese thought are
welcome. Works-in-progress are especially encouraged, with the CCCT being a collegial atmosphere
for collaboration. All things otherwise equal, proposals from scholars and graduate students based in
the Carolinas and the U.S. Southeast region will be given preference for selection.
LOCATION: Converse University, 580 East Main Street, Spartanburg, South Carolina.
Dalton Auditorium in Phifer Science Building.
FORMAT: Depending on the number of participants, we estimate that individual
presentations will be approximately 20-25 minutes in length, however, alternative formats may
be considered. Concurrent presentations will not be scheduled. Presentations will occur across
two half-days (Friday afternoon and Saturday morning).
TRAVEL: Located in the Upstate region of South Carolina, the closest airport is Greenville-
Spartanburg International Airport (GSP), about 20 minutes from campus. We anticipate that
most attendees will be located within driving distance. We are unable to provide funding
support for travel.
ACCOMMODATIONS: The Spartanburg Marriott or the AC Hotel Spartanburg are
recommended.
PARKING: Complimentary parking will be available near the conference site.
SUBMISSIONS: Please submit an abstract of at least 100 words to Kevin DeLapp
