Teaching-track position in Philosophy
Duration: 2 years, renewable
Appointment is expected to begin in July 2026
Starting salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
Fringe benefits can include annual leave, medical and dental benefits
A gratuity will be payable upon successful completion of contract
Responsibility:
Teach common core (i.e. general education) philosophy courses
Teach introductory courses on philosophy, covering both Eastern and Western traditions, as well as Logic and Ethics.
May teach other courses that align with the strengths of HKUST’s philosophy faculty (Chinese Philosophy, Analytic Philosophy, Philosophy of Science)
Qualifications
Ph.D in Philosophy or a related field
Experience in teaching philosophy in Higher Education contexts
Experience in teaching students from diverse academic backgrounds
Strong communication skills and the ability to explain complex philosophical ideas in an engaging and relatable manner
