Visiting Position, East Asian Religions

Kenyon College, a highly selective liberal arts college in Gambier, Ohio, seeks applications for a one-year position teaching East Asian Religions in the Religious Studies Department for the academic year 2014-15.

Pending administrative approval, there may be a national search for a tenure-track position in this field to begin the following year. Area of specialization may be China, Japan, or Korea. Ability to teach our introductory course, Religion in Global Context, and at least one course on Buddhism is expected. Subfield of Women’s and Gender Studies would be a welcome addition. Teaching load 3/2.

A complete application will be comprised of 1) a Cover Letter; 2) a statement of the applicant’s teaching philosophy including a list of courses taught; 3) a Curriculum Vita; and 4) Letters of Reference from three (3) recommenders 5) writing samples, 6) unofficial graduate transcripts. All application materials must be submitted electronically through Kenyon’s employment website. Review of applications will begin November 5, 2013, and will continue until the position is filled. Preliminary interviews will be conducted at the AAR meeting in Baltimore.
