    I would not have imagined liberalism as a feature or branch of Confucianism. I can only suppose it was/ is not the sort of liberalism as despised by a large contingent of Americans in the twenty-first century. But, not knowing much about Confucious’ views and ways of thinking, I admit ignorance.
