APA on Demand: How to Infuse Asian Content into Philosophy Courses

The American Philosophical Association on Asian and Asian-American Philosophers and Philosophies held an APA Live webinar, How to Infuse Asian Content into Philosophy Courses, in celebration of Asian Pacific Islander Desi American Heritage Month. They recorded this webinar in which teachers and scholars shared strategies for effectively infusing Asian content into philosophy courses. Book Of Interest: Rulers and Ruled in Ancient Greece, Rome, and China

Cambridge University Press has published Ruler and Ruled in Ancient Greece, Rome, and China, edited by Hans Beck and Greit Vankeerberghen. “The volume’s overarching theme is ‘the conceptual capacity of “the people” in history, especially the cultural and political dynamics between the rulers and the ruled in ancient China, Greece, and Rome”. “This is new, as previous comparisons of the political cultures of ancient Greece, Rome, and China have mainly centered their focus, at the macro level, on the formation and operation of the empires”. Online Lecture: Luo, Understanding the Alienated Self

An online lecture titled Understanding the Alienated Self: The Interest in and Problemtization of the Village in the Post-May-Forth Period is being hosted by the Centre for Modern East Asian Studies & Department of East Asian Studies, University of Göttingen. The lecture will be given by Luo Zhitian, a distinguished professor at Sichuan University, and is co-organized by Dr. Axel Schneider and Dr. Thomas Fröhlich. Participants are required to register for the event, and it will be held in Chinese.

New Book: Routledge Handbook of Chinese Medicine

Routledge has recently published the Routledge Handbook of Chinese Medicine, edited by Vivienne Lo and Michael Stanley-Baker. This is “an extensive, interdisciplinary guide to the nature of traditional medicine and healing in the Chinese cultural region, and its plural epistemologies. Book Of Interest: Perkins, Doing What you Really Want

Oxford University Press has published Doing What You Really Want: An Introduction to the Philosophy of Mengzi by Franklin Perkins. CFP: Digital Identities in China

“Digital Identities in China,” a planned special issue of Chinese Literature and Thought Today guest-edited by Dr. Paul J. D’ Ambrosio, is inviting authors to explore digital identities in China from the perspective of Chinese literature, philosophy, or other related avenues. Interested individuals should send a 250-word abstract and a short bio to Dr. Paul J. D’Ambrosio by July 30, 2022. Notification of acceptance of abstracts will be sent out by August 15, 2022. Rapporteur reports from RWCP on Sosa and Zagzebski

On April 22, the fifth Rutgers Workshop on Chinese Philosophy took place, with six scholars of Chinese philosophy presenting papers that engaged with the work of Ernest Sosa and Linda Zagzebski. The workshop’s website is here. At the workshop, two Rutgers graduate students, Esther Goh and Frederick Choo, served as rapporteurs, taking notes on each presentation and on the discussion.
