Call for Applications: Exploring Perspectives on China-US Relations – 2023

This project is co-sponsored by the Shanghai Institutes for International Studies and the Johns Hopkins University-Nanjing University Center for Chinese and American Studies. It promotes in-person dialogue between Chinese and American scholars, including doctoral students, postdoctoral fellows, junior faculty members, think tank experts, as well as emerging leaders in various fields. The submission should include a current c.v. as well as a short (under 500 words) description of specific areas of interest and what the applicant hopes to contribute to such an exchange. The submission deadline is July 10th, 2023. Please email to xuxiaolan@siis.org.cn.

Proposals for 2023 Meeting of the Northeast Conference on Chinese Thought due 7/15/23

We are pleased to announce that this year’s meeting of the Northeast Conference on Chinese Thought (NECCT) will be held on November 11-12 at Brown University. This annual meeting is an opportunity for scholars of Chinese thought (broadly construed) from across the northeast US (also broadly construed) to gather and share their research. This year, we are accepting panel proposals (3-4 presenters) in addition to paper proposals. As we are interested in generating interdisciplinary discussions, we welcome work of any disciplinary/methodological orientation that bears on Chinese thought, including but not limited to history, religious studies, anthropology, literary studies, art history, and philosophy.

Call for Abstract: ISCP at the 2024 APA Eastern

The International Society for Chinese Philosophy is excited to announce that they are planning to have two group sessions at the Eastern Division American Philosophical Association (APA) in New York, NY on January 15–18, 2024. Submissions focusing on any area of Chinese philosophy, including comparative engagements with other traditions, are welcomed. CFP: ECNU 2023 Graduate Chinese Philosophy Conference

The East China Normal University is happy to announce that they will be hosting a graduate philosophy conference titled Chinese Philosophy Now and Then. This conference will take place on November  17th-19th, 2023. This conference is intended for graduate students and emerging scholars and encourages conversation between moments in time within the field of Chinese philosophy. They are currently accepting papers that should be focused on Chinese philosophy; presentations on other areas and disciplines of philosophy may enrich the discussion and are also welcome for abstract submissions. CFP: 12th East-West Philosopher’s Conference

The Department of Philosophy at the University of Hawai’i at Mãnoa is happy to announce they will be hosting the 12th East-West Philosopher’s Conference on May 25-31, 2024 at the University of Hawaii-Manoa. They are currently accepting paper proposals to be presented at the conference. This year’s conference explores the many dimensions of trauma and healing. All abstracts (which should be between 250-300 words) should be emailed to the Conference organizers. Those who are accepted should know by December 15th, 2023. CFP: ISCP Session at AAR 2023 Meeting

The ISCP is planning to hold an invited Related Scholarly Organization session at the 2023 meeting of the American Academy of Religion (which takes place Nov 18-21 in San Antonio, TX). They are currently inviting the submission of abstracts for individual papers for consideration. Presentation time will be limited to 20 minutes to allow for discussion. Please read below for more information about submissions. Please note that participants in RSO sessions are required to register for the AAR meeting.

Deadline for abstract: June 17th  (Please submit the abstract in one email to all members of the ISCP Executive Committee).

CFP: ISEAP 2023 Conference

The Journal of East Asian Philosophy is happy to announce that the International Society of East Asian Philosophy (ISEAP) will have its third international conference on September 15-16, which will be held both via Zoom and at the University of Edinburgh (UK). The Conference aims to unite scholars in an effort to explore what makes the human experience unique, and uniquely valuable.

CFP: Essay on Confucianism and Interfaith Dialogue

Daniel Ross Goodman, Elaine Jean Lai, and Anthony Lee are editing a volume on “Beyond Dialogue: New Paradigms in Interfaith Discourse”. They are happy to announce that they are now calling for a Confucian chapter for the volume. This volume looks to be the first to address the topic of interfaith dialogue and interfaith theology through the individual perspectives of every major global religion. CFP: Being, Thinking, and Meaningfulness of Life

The Department of Philosophy at Fu Jen Catholic University is organizing a three-day international conference in memory of Professor Vincent Shen which will take place June 7th-9th 2024 at New Taipei City in Taiwan. They are inviting scholars, researchers, and members of academia to present their latest findings related to the theme of this conference.
